Castlewood, VA – – Imogene H. Dye age 64 went to be with the Lord surrounded by her family on September 20, 2017. She was born December 15, 1952 in Lebanon, VA, a daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Helen Patrick Huffman. She was a member of Mill Creek Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband: Douglas W. Dye of the home and daughter: Myra Kramer and husband Roy of Lebanon, VA; one son: Gordon P. Dye of Lebanon, VA; three sisters: Nadine Sutherland and husband Sid of Abingdon, VA; Phyllis Howard and husband Roger of Castlewood, VA; and Shirley Boyd and husband C.L. of Lebanon, VA; two brothers: Larry Huffman and wife Hazel of Pounding Mill, VA; Jerry Huffman of Lebanon, VA; two grandchildren: Luke Kramer, and Emily Kramer of Lebanon, VA. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Imogene Dye will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 22, 2017 at the Ketrons Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Lebanon, VA. with the Rev. Randy Cross officiating. Entombment will follow. Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to service.

LEBANON, VA – Gary Crowder age 79, of Lebanon, Virginia, succumbed to cancer at his home surrounded by his family on September 17, 2017 to be with his Lord. He was a loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, sibling and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his father: Edgar Crowder; sister: Barbara Pace and daughter: Holly McReynolds Smith.
Survivors include his wife: Judy Crowder and their children and spouses: Jennifer Clancy and husband Sean, Rebecca Braddock and Clark Crowder; grandchildren: Elizabeth Crowder, Rachel Braddock and Tylor Orr; siblings: Doris Fletcher and James (Chub) Crowder and his mother Helen Crowder. His life was also graced with special friends who provided him friendship and support.

The family will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. prior to the service, Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 8:00 p.m. with Rev Don Bush officiating. Entombment will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Chapel of Love Mausoleum at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Those attending are requested to meet at the Mausoleum at the time of service.

CLARA RUTH CAUDILL CROSS
LEBANON, VA – Clara Ruth Caudill Cross, age 77, of Lebanon, VA.passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, surrounded by her children. Clara was born in Dante, VA on December 23, 1939 to Timothy Havley and Rebecca Jessee Caudill. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandson; Derek Carter: brother; Felix Caudill; sisters; Jerline Parks and Norma Cox.
Clara is survived by her children; Vicki Cross Adkins and husband Tony; Diane Cross Carter and husband Allen and Billy Cross and wife Sherry; grandchildren; Allison Adkins, Ryan Adkins, Kayla Carter Loudy and husband Brad, Wesley Carter, Shannon Cross Nichols and husband Justin and Travis Cross and wife Rebekah; great-grandchildren; Dera Loudy, Dane Loudy, Demi Loudy, Annabelle Cross, Adelaide Cross, Gabriel Cross, Savannah Shaver, and Grady Shaver; and sisters; Brenda Burns and Terry Jessee and husband Larry.
A private funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Combs Funeral Service with Travis Cross officiating. Burial will be at Russell Memorial Cemetary in Lebanon, VA following the service.

Lebanon, Va.- Helen Dare Musick Owens, age 94, went to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 14, 2017,at Maple Grove Care Center, Lebanon, VA. Born on March 23, 1923, in Nora, VA, Helen was a daughter of the late Henry Glen, Sr. and Agnes Kendrick Musick. She lived most of her life in Honaker and Lebanon, VA. She was the beloved wife of the late Lee Dickerson Owens, Sr. An infant sister, Mildred Adaline Musick, and her ‘darling’ granddaughter, Karen Elaine Owens Robinson,also preceded her in death.
Helen was a graduate of Honaker High School and attended the Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing before her marriage to Lee. Helen and Lee owned and operated Owens Furniture Company, Inc. in Honaker, Virginia, for many years. She loved to help people with their household needs, as well as to talk with them about their everyday concerns and their relationship with God. She loved her family and her many, many friends. As a volunteer Pink Lady at the Russell County Medical Center in Lebanon, she was of great help to the staff, as well as the patients. Unable to just sit at home, she also volunteered at the Christian Center of Lebanon–again, aiding her customers with some Christian advice, as well as clothing and other items. She was a faithful member of the Lebanon Baptist Church, Lebanon, VA, having made her profession of faith in her early years.
Survivors include two sons: Glen Edward Owens and wife, Margaret, and Lee Dickerson Owens, Jr., both of Lebanon, VA.; grandson, David Glen Owens, granddaughter, April Lee Owens, and grandson-in-law, John Paul Robinson, all of Lebanon, VA; two great grandchildren, Kimberly Hope Robinson and Joshua Paul Robinson, also of Lebanon, VA. Also surviving are one sister, Betty Jo Musick Gregory, of Richlands, VA, two brothers, The Rev. Henry Glen Musick and wife, Pauline, and James Kent Musick and wife, Jean, all Honaker, VA., and a brother-in-law, Albert M. Owens and wife, Katherine, of Bristol, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to the above family members surviving her are dear friends, Angi and Tommy Lee, Summer Haynes, and Hunter Lee, all of Hixson, TN.; her daughter-at-heart, Sue Whitt Honaker, of Swords Creek, VA., and her very special friends, Mary Alice Hubbard Hale , and son, Jimmy Lee Hale, Jr, both of Kingsport, TN.
A word of special thanks is given to the staff of Maple Grove Care Center, Lebanon, VA for the professional and compassionate care that was given to Mrs. Owens and the family.
Visitation for Helen Dare Musick Owens will be from 1:00-2:00 PM, Saturday, September 16, 2017, at the Lebanon Baptist Church, Lebanon, VA, The Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 PM with The Rev. Stephen Musick and The Rev. Larry Burton officiating. CLEVELAND- Paul S. Brooks, age 66, went to be with the Lord Sunday, September 10, 2017 in the Johnson City Medical Center. Paul was born March 31, 1951 in Lebanon, VA a son of the late Vaughn and Virginia Cook Brooks. A lifelong resident of Russell County, Paul was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War Era. He was an employee at Consolidated Steel. He was a member of Green Valley Baptist Church; Paul loved the outdoors, he loved to hunt and fish. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother: Russell Brooks; and two sisters: Dorothy Smith, and Beulah Jones.
Survivors include his loving wife of 46 years: Judy Kegley Brooks; one son: Paul Mitchell Brooks and wife Merida; one sister: Connie Howell and husband Danny; one brother: Hobert Brooks; three grandchildren: Joshua Cole, Angela Jennings and husband Joe, Heather Cordle and husband Rocky; four great-grandchildren: Trevor, Bryson, Brittan, and Beckett; and several nieces and nephews. A special canine companion: Bella.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 7pm Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher officiating. Burial will be at 11am Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Ketron Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7 Tuesday, September 12, 2017 prior to the service.

LEBANON- Lois Jean Dotson, age 83, passed away Friday, September 8, 2017 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Effie Musick and the wife of late Stacy Dotson. She was of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving companion: Auty Howard; two daughters: Sue Dotson Shortridge and husband Dennis, and Marlene Dotson; three sons: Fred Dotson, Kenneth Dotson, and Tad Dotson and wife Jo; one sister: Mary King; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2pm Monday, September 11, 2017 in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel with Randy Williams officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, VA. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2pm prior to the service.

LEBANON, VA- Bill Fate Alexander, age 83, passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017. He was born April 3, 1934 in Lebanon, the son of the late Charles and Stella Fields Alexander. He was a lifelong resident of Russell County, he was a farmer, and he attended the Lebanon Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years: Carrie Musick Alexander; one daughter: Brenda Boothe and husband Eugene; one son: William Daniel Alexander and Gail Shortt; one sister: Betty Lou Ferguson; five grandchildren: Courtney Reynolds, Caitlin Boothe, Brandi Alexander, Kandi Alexander, and Keith Gordon; greatgrandchild: Noah Reynolds; one nephew: Eugene Ferguson and Joanna and their children; and one niece: Rita Westberry and her children.

She was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters; a son John Russell Salyers: two granddaughters.
Survivors include two daughters: Judy Poteet and husband Andrew and Ella Rose and husband Chris: three sons Bert Salyers and wife Lorraine; William (Buddy) Salyers and wife Frankie and Cecil Salyers and wife Phyllis. One sister Audrey Lampkins and husband George; one brother Richard White and wife Dollie; ten grandchildren; one step grandson; 19 great grandchildren; two step great granddaughters and one great great grandson.

James was born November 9, 1947, a son of the late Tyler James Lewis Chaffin and the late Geneva Nunley Chaffin. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the U.M.W.A. James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, and he was a disabled American Veteran. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother: Roy Chaffin; and one sister: Cynthia Swanson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years Linda Gail Counts Chaffin; one daughter: Lisa Castle and husband Robert; one son: James Mack Chaffin, Jr. and wife Connie; two granddaughters: Amber Castle and Hayley Bowman; three grandsons: Tyler Castle, Logan Chaffin, and Ethan Chaffin; one sister: Shirley Castle; two brothers: Troy Chaffin (Cracker) and Winston Chaffin and wife Shirley; several nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews also survive.
